San Diego doctor accused of using dirty needles on pediatric patients

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGTV) — The California Medical Board is looking into a case where a San Diego doctor is accused of using dirty needles on pediatric patients.

Newly released documents by the California Medical board states Dr. Bret Robert Gerber used dirty syringes on a 2-year-old and a 10-year-old in July 2016. At the time, Dr. Gerber worked at Scripps Coastal Medical Center in Hillcrest. Read more here.

Dr. Bret Robert Gerber is a San Diego doctor who is accused of using dirty needles on pediatric patients in July 2016. This has prompted the California Medical Board to look into the case. According to the documents, a medical assistant reported seeing the doctor bring in two boxes of expired needles with dead insects and apparent rodent droppings in it. Dr. Bret Robert Gerber has been working at Scripps Coastal Medical Center in Hillcrest during that time. It is also said that Dr. Gerber was previously arrested for having psychedelic mushrooms, cocaine, and ecstasy. Despite his offenses, his medical license was never revoked and is valid until January 2020.

It was originally named the San Diego Wild Animal Park until 2010 and is noted for its California condor breeding program.
